ECNEC approves 9 projects worth Tk 3756 crore
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved nine new development projects with a total expenditure of Tk 3,756.20 crore. Of the total cost, Tk 2,798.19 crore will come from government funding, Tk 812.95 crore from project loans, and Tk 145.06 crore from the organizations’ own funds.
The approval was given at the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC Conference Room on the Planning Commission premises on Wednesday (May 7). The meeting was presided over by Chief Advisor and ECNEC Chairperson Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud informed reporters after the meeting.
Establishment of 7 regional offices of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission Secretariat and Capacity Building (3rd Revised) Project. Prevention of Violence and Harmful Practices Against Children and Women in Bangladesh Project of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. Construction of Inland Container and Bulk Terminal at Khanpur, Narayanganj (1st Revised) Project of the Ministry of Shipping.
Development of Gulshan-Banani-Baridhara Lake (1st Revised) of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works; Disaster Risk Management Enhancement Project (Component Two and Three) (Second Revised) and Bangladesh Sustainable Recovery, Emergency Preparedness and Response Project (B-Strong) (DDM Part) Project. Irrigation Management Development Project of Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhat Districts of the Ministry of Agriculture. Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Wecare Phase-1: Jhenaidah-Jessore Highway (N-7) Development Project (1st Revised). Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Greater Comilla District Important Rural Infrastructure Development Project (3rd Phase) (1st Revised).
3 projects with extended duration: Land acquisition related to development of Faridpur-Bhanga-Barisal-Patuakhali-Kuakata National Highway in four lanes; Khulna Shipyard Road Widening and Development (2nd Revised) and National Art Gallery and National Music and Dance Center Expansion and Completion of Unfinished Works (1st Revised) Project.
