When a society becomes intolerant, the first thing it does is to commit injustice, oppression and torture on the women. In this patriarchal society, women have been weakened in many ways. Physically, women may be different from men, they are more connected to nature; but women have been economically and socially kept behind due to the influence of patriarchy. Especially in our country, women are still being pushed back.

And recently, we see that women in our society are being subjected to various forms of oppression and torture. From rape to domestic violence, women are being subjected to oppression. Many girls are being subjected to child marriage and they have nowhere to stay in case of separation. As a result, many women are forced to live with an abusive family, whether because of their children or because of social fear. Not all news of these incidents comes in the newspapers. It is possible to prosecute rape and torture; But the women who are dying in vain are not tried in any court; because they turn a blind eye to hundreds of atrocities; let alone in the media, many times even their own families do not know about these news.

Therefore, not only law but also social education is necessary to prevent violence against women. This education must start from every family. This education must also be taught institutionally that no woman should be subjected to violence in any way. Even if economic equality between men and women is not established in this society, it is important to establish human dignity. To establish that humanity, everyone needs to be human first. This is the biggest lesson in life. To oppress someone with the power of money and physical power is a very heinous act.

At one time, when our social culture was more organized, the incidents of violence against women were much less; but now due to the weakening of social bonds, violence against women is increasing. With the weakening of social bonds, our ideals and values are also decreasing. Bangladesh is now going through a time where on one hand the individual has not developed; but on the other hand the individual is isolated from society. Along with this, there is economic and political instability. These also have an impact on society and families making women the victims.

To create an environment of respect for women, boys and girls must be taught to develop a humane attitude towards women from an early age. People receive their first education from the family. All the chaos in our society today, especially incidents like violence against women, clearly show the failure of family and social education. If we cannot develop a culture of family and social education, violence against women cannot be stopped through laws alone. So, let us build a movement against violence against women in every family. The day women are socially respected, this violence against women will stop across the country.
