Govt incentive for cotton cultivation for first time

The government has decided to provide an incentive worth Tk 9.9 crore to increase cotton production.

Some 12,375 farmers in 26 districts will get hybrid cotton seeds, 26 kg urea, 50 kg DAP and 50 kg MOP fertilisers and various herbicides and growth regulators required for cotton cultivation per one bigha of land.

The market price of these materials is Tk 8,000.

Fakhre Alam Ibn Tabib, executive director of Cotton Development Board, said, “These incentives are being provided from the Agriculture Ministry's regular budget for the agricultural rehabilitation assistance sector. The government order in this regard has already been issued. These incentives will be distributed at the field level soon.”
