Grandson of national poet hospitalized with severe burns

Babul Kazi (59), the grandson of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, has been hospitalized with severe burns following an incident around 5:30 am on Saturday (January 18). He was admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute and is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, the resident doctor at the institute, confirmed the matter.

He stated, "Babul Kazi, who arrived from Banani, has suffered burns on 75% of his body and is currently being treated in the ICU. His condition is critical, and a medical board will be formed to assess his treatment."

It is believed that the fire occurred due to a gas lighter explosion while he was smoking in the bathroom.
