HC's order to close schools during Ramadan upheld
The Appellate Division Chamber Judge has upheld the High Court's order to close primary and secondary schools during Ramadan. At the same time, the court has fixed tomorrow (Tuesday) for hearing the appeal in the full bench of the Appellate Division. Appellate Division Chamber Justice M Inayetur Rahim passed the order on Monday (March 11) afternoon. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin heard on behalf of the state.
Earlier, the lawyers for the state filed an appeal with the chamber judge of the Appellate Division against the High Court order that said primary and secondary schools would remain closed during the month of Ramadan.
On Sunday, the High Court ordered the closure of primary and secondary schools during Ramadan. At the same time, the previous notification issued to keep schools open was suspended.
On February 8, the government amended the holiday list for educational institutions keeping the regular activities of secondary schools open for 15 days during the month of Ramadan. The Ministry of Education issued a notice in this regard.
