Income tax return submission deadline extended by one month
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) extended the deadline for income tax returns submission by all types of taxpayers except companies in both offline and online by one month till December 31, 2024.
The NBR in an order issued on Sunday (November 17) extended the deadline following the requests from various quarters and taxpayers.
Syed A Momen, the Public Relations Officer of the NBR, confirmed the matter.
He said, "According to the Income Tax Act 2023, the last date for submitting income tax returns for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, excluding companies, is November 30. The NBR received requests from taxpayers of various professions to extend the deadline. To facilitate taxpayers, the NBR has issued an order today extending the deadline for all taxpayers (excluding companies) to submit both online e-returns and offline paper returns by one month."
According to NBR sources, 375,000 taxpayers have already filed their e-returns online. The NBR anticipates a smooth and hassle-free return submission process for taxpayers this year.
