KNF’s armed activity in hills isolated incident: Quader
The armed activity of Kuki-chin National Front (KNF), a separatist rebel group of indigenous Bom community of Bandarban, in the hills is an 'isolated incident, claimed General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader.
“The government has taken a very careful and firm position on this. This is an isolated incident. The Home Minister has already visited the area. A joint operation is underway,” he said while addressing a press conference at the political office of the Awami League president at Dhanmondi in the capital on Sunday (April 7).
Apart from this, Obaidul Quader also commented about the upcoming upazila elections. He said, “Candidature has been opened. Election is an open thing. Many may have the desire to take part in an open environment. Our clear statement is that MPs or ministers will not exert any influence anywhere.
Administration will be impartial. The administration has been instructed not to allow anyone to intervene. And after the finalization of the candidature, if anyone disobeys the party instructions, organizational measures will be taken.”
