Medical board formed, govt to bear medical expenses

Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen today said five survivors of the deadly Bailey Road building blaze are still in a precarious state and will continue to undergo treatment at the hospital.

A medical board, headed by the health minister, has been formed to treat burn patients. At the same time, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered the government to bear the medical expenses of the injured.

Dr. Samanta Lal Sen said, "Some of the 11 injured undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute will be released from the hospital as they are out of danger."

The health minister said this while talking to the reporters at 11.00am after visiting the injured patients at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.

Samant Lal said, "Their trachea is burnt, there is a little complication. We will review them for a few more days and decide what to do."

He said, "A medical board of 17 members has been formed for the treatment of the injured. The honorable prime minister called me last night and said that the government will bear all the expenses of all these patients. We have a fund here, she also sent some money today."
