In a special notification on Monday (December 30), the metro rail operating company said that metro trains operate daily using high-voltage electric lines in the section from Uttara North to Motijheel.

'If a lantern or any similar object is flown on the occasion of 31st Night and English New Year celebrations, there is a risk of serious accidents, including loss of precious lives and property, if the object or its remains get entangled in these high-voltage electric lines at any moment.'

The notification said that commercial operation of the metro rail from Uttara North to Motijheel of MRT Line-6 is continuing. About 3.5 lakh passengers are using the metro rail service on this route every day.

In such a context, it is specially requested not to fly lanterns or any similar objects on the route alignment of MRT Line-6 from Uttara Uttar to Motijheel and the surrounding areas on the occasion of the Thirty-First Night and English New Year celebrations.
