Metro rail service halted for 23 minutes, passengers suffer

Metro rail service was halted for 23 minutes due to a technical glitch. As a result, passengers had to stand in long queues at the stations, causing significant suffering.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) shared this information in a brief message on Wednesday evening (May 28).

According to the message from DMTCL, "Dear metro rail passengers, please be informed that due to a technical fault, metro rail service was temporarily suspended from 6:35pm to 6:58pm on Wednesday evening. The service resumed normally from 6:58pm."

The message also added, "Metro rail authorities sincerely apologize for the temporary inconvenience caused to our valued passengers. We are grateful to the public for their patience and cooperation during this unexpected situation."

Several passengers at different metro stations said the disruption began shortly after 6:30pm, and ticket queues extended from inside the stations to the outside.
