The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has decided that Metrorail will also operate on weekends.

A station official of DMTCL confirmed this to Views Bangladesh on Sunday (September 15).

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, this official stated, "The Metrorail authority has already issued the schedule for Metrorail operations from 3.00pm to 9:30pm next Friday. We are making preparations for duty on that day."

"An official announcement regarding this matter is expected to be made next Wednesday," he added.

Last week, the government terminated the contractual appointment of former DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique. Mohammad Abdur Rauf has been appointed as the new managing director.

According to various media reports, Rauf has emphasized the urgent need to expedite the operation of the two affected stations.

DMTCL's new Managing Director, Abdur Rauf, previously said, "Kazipara station is being repaired using locally available machinery, equipment, and materials. However, it will take additional time to complete the commissioning of Mirpur-10 station."

"We are making every effort to launch it as soon as possible," he added.
