Migrant workers are protesting at the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare after they were unable to go to Malaysia on a calling visa.

Earlier, they blocked the road at Karwan Bazar intersection from 9 am on Wednesday (January 22), causing severe traffic congestion. Later, they were removed from Karwan Bazar intersection and after 12:30 pm, they took up a position in front of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare.

The protesting workers said that about 18,000 workers could not go to Malaysia on a calling visa. We have all paid about 5-6 lakh taka. We have come to fulfill our legitimate demands, not any political party.

The workers said that we will return home after resolving this. We will not leave the road until we get a solution.

During this, the protesters started chanting slogans from the procession, 'One point, one demand, I want to go to Malaysia'.

Police members are on alert around the protesters.
