More than 5 lakh taxpayers file e-returns

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched online return filing system for taxpayers since September 9.

So far, the number of income tax returns filed online using the system has crossed five lakh, says a press release signed by NBR Director (public relations) Syed A Mumen on Monday (November 25).

According to the release, the number of income tax returns filed online has crossed five lakh as of November 24 and the number of registrations for online return filing has crossed 12.5 lakh.

NBR congratulated all the taxpayers who have already successfully filed their income tax returns online. NBR also humbly requested other individual taxpayers to file their income tax returns online using the portal in a timely manner.

After the National Board of Revenue launched the e-system in 2021, 61,491 taxpayers filed e-returns in the 2021-2022 tax year, 244,481 in the 2022-2023 tax year, and 526,487 in the 2023-2024 tax year.
