MP Anar was killed on third attempt after two failed plans: DB Chief
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) additional commissioner Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid said that MP Anwarul Azim Anar has been killed on the third attempt after two previous unsuccessful plans. This murder was planned in Bangladesh before the last national elections and in January this year.
Harun-or-Rashid said while speaking at a press briefing held at DB Conference room in the capital’s Minto Road area on Saturday.
DB Chief said, "Anwar was murdered in Kolkata on the third attempt after the two plans failed. The original plan was to kill the MP, but before that, the perpetrators intended to take him to a flat in Kolkata and hold him for two days, blackmailing him to collect some money. However, the MP was killed before regaining consciousness due to excessive anesthetic application. Following the murder, the individuals involved dispersed with the MP's mobile phone, attempting to confuse everyone."
In this incident, a team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police, led by Haroon-or-Rashid, will go to Kolkata to verify and investigate the information obtained so far about the murder.
Haroon-or-Rashid said, "The Indian police are currently investigating the murder. Three officers from the DB, along with myself, will go to India for the investigation within the next few days if the IGP orders."
