NBR extends submitting VAT returns deadline till 19 June
Due to the long Eid holidays, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting VAT returns online. The new deadline has been set for June 19.
This information was announced by the NBR through a notice on Thursday (May 29).
The notice states that considering the upcoming long public holiday for Eid-ul-Adha, the deadline for filing tax returns has been extended to June 19. This extension is aimed at helping taxpayers submit their returns more easily during the holiday period.
Regarding this matter, NBR’s Public Relations Officer Al Amin Sheikh said that the deadline for submitting online returns for the May 2025 tax period has been extended from June 16 to June 19.
It is important to note that taxpayers must complete registration before submitting returns online. For registration, a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and a mobile number registered with biometric verification are required. Using these two pieces of information, registration can be completed, and then returns can be submitted online.
To submit income tax returns or e-returns online, taxpayers do not need to upload or submit any physical documents. They only need to provide the necessary information. For example, salaried individuals only need to provide a bank account statement showing one year’s transactions as proof of income.
In addition, taxpayers must also provide relevant details such as the bank account balance, interest information, and account number for the period from July 1 of the previous year to June 30 of the following year.
