NBR takes special measures for taxpayers without biometric SIMs

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has given a special opportunity to file returns online for taxpayers without biometric SIMs due to lack of fingerprints. In that case, they will have to appear in person at the NBR's Tax Information Service Center and submit a written application.

The NBR gave this information in a notification on Sunday (December 29).

The notification said that as part of simplifying the online return filing process, many taxpayers who have national identity cards but could not get a biometric mobile SIM due to lack of fingerprints, due to which they are unable to register in the return system, NBR has taken this special measure for them.

It was further said that such taxpayers can complete their registration in e-return by appearing in person at the Second Secretary (Tax Information Management and Evaluation), Room 717 of the National Board of Revenue and submitting a written application during the weekly office hours. In addition, the National Board of Revenue expresses its sincere gratitude to all taxpayers, including about one million taxpayers who have already filed their income tax returns online.

The notification further states that at the same time, the National Board of Revenue has urged all taxpayers to file their returns online easily and seamlessly by January 31.
