No tax fair this year too
The income tax fair scheduled in November is not being held this year too.
Tax return service will be provided at each tax office instead of the fair throughout the month of November.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will make this special arrangement for paying income tax staying at home, several senior NBR officials confirmed.
According to NBR sources, this time instead of the fair, to provide the service of filing of returns at the tax offices, a ‘service month’ will be organised throughout the month of November.
Apart from this, tax officials will go to various places including secretariat, and university campuses to provide service. Volunteers may also be recruited to assist during this time.
Special service centers for taxpayers will be launched in each tax zone.
At the centres, services including filing the return and filling the return form will be provided. Tax payers will also get the acknowledgment of receipt of return deposit immediately after submitting the return. This time there will be a special system of submitting e-returns online.
In 2010, Income Tax Fair was organised for the first time in Dhaka and Chattogram.
Income tax fairs were also held at divisional cities, district headquarters and upazila levels. Tax payers used to submit their returns with great interest in these fairs. But due to corona epidemic in 2020, income tax fair was cancelled to avoid health risks. Instead, providing income tax service began in the tax zones. In that continuity, income tax service week will be held instead of the fair during the interim government.
