Now Apu Biswas barred from inauguration event

Actress Apu Biswas was supposed to inaugurate a restaurant in Dhaka's Kamrangirchar. After all the preparations were completed, the restaurant authorities campaigned on Facebook. As soon as the news spread, some locals objected Apu's presence at the launching programme. The matter was escalated to the police station, after which the restaurant owners cancelled the plan to inaugurate it by Apu Biswas.

Kamrangirchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Amirul Islam confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday (January 29). He said that after learning about Apu Biswas' presence at the restaurant inauguration, some local religious leaders protested on Facebook. They claimed that if Apu Biswas was brought in, they would create chaos. Since there are more than two hundred madrasas in the area, the matter was taken seriously and the police also informed the higher authorities. Later, the restaurant owners decided not to bring Apu Biswas for business reasons and completed the inauguration themselves.

However, Apu Biswas inaugurated a showroom in Keraniganj yesterday (Tuesday).

Such incidents are not new. Earlier, actress Parimoni in Tangail and actress Mehjabeen Chowdhury faced obstacles while inaugurating showrooms in Chittagong.

It is learnt that the restaurant named 'Sonar Thala' in Kamrangirchar was supposed to be inaugurated at 3pm on Tuesday, where Apu Biswas was supposed to be present as a guest.

However, in the face of objections, the owners finally inaugurated it on their own.
