One minute blackout on March 25 night

A one-minute symbolic blackout will be observed on March 25 from 10:30 pm to 10:31 am to commemorate the 1971 genocide.

This information was given in a press release by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Sunday (March 23).

It said that various programs have been taken at the national level to celebrate the Genocide Day on March 25 with due dignity. The President and the Chief Adviser will deliver messages on the occasion of the day. A memorial and discussion meeting on the genocide will be held on March 25 in all educational institutions including schools, colleges, madrasas and technical schools across the country with the participation of eminent personalities and heroic freedom fighters. A seminar on genocide and the liberation war will be held at the Liberation War Museum at 10 am or at a convenient time on that day.

In addition, an exhibition of rare photographs and documentaries on the genocide will be organized in all city corporations including Dhaka, and the programs taken will be broadcast by Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

It further states that special prayers will be organized in all mosques and other places of worship after Zuhr/at convenient times in memory of those killed on the night of March 25, 1971. A one-minute symbolic blackout (except KPI/emergency establishments) will be observed from 10:30 pm to 10:31 pm on March 25.

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs also said that lighting will not be allowed in important government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings and establishments under any circumstances on the night of March 25.
