A segment of student demonstrators and injured participants from the July Uprising continue their sit-in at Shahbagh intersection, demanding a permanent ban on the Awami League, implementation of the July Declaration, and advanced medical treatment for the injured.

Following the departure of leaders and activists from the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) and allied groups around 4:00am on Saturday (May 10), these protesters occupied the same stage and vowed to remain at Shahbagh until the July Declaration is officially announced. They have erected barricades at all four entry points to Shahbagh.

As of Sunday morning (May 11), an on-the-ground visit revealed that no buses were operating between Banglamotor and Shahbagh. Only a limited number of private vehicles and rickshaws were seen in the area. The entire Shahbagh intersection was found to be blockaded, although some vehicles were passing through the road adjacent to BIRDEM Hospital.

Injured protesters emphasized that while they may be affiliated with political groups, they are determined not to let the “July Declaration” be forgotten. “As long as we are alive, we will not accept any effort to rehabilitate the Awami League or its affiliated organizations,” said one injured participant.
