Teletalk has initiated a policy change process aimed at recruiting experienced and skilled professionals from the corporate sector through open notice. Consequently, efforts are underway to revise the 'Articles of Association' of this government-owned company.

It is worth mentioning that approximately three and a half months ago, Teletalk received instructions to make such appointments from the corporate sector. The operator then took the matter to their board of directors.

Following this, the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Communication Technology, Junaid Ahmed Palak, reviewed the progress of Teletalk's programme on Monday (April 29) and provided several directives to the company's top officials regarding the matter.

Some top officials of Teletalk said the matter was raised in the 231st meeting of the Board of Directors of Teletalk. There was a discussion regarding the revision of Teletalk's management policy for appointment to the top positions including MD of Teletalk through open notice.

Officials have stated that they have recommended the consideration of amendments to Article 55 of the Articles of Association for approval at the upcoming Special General Meeting.

Currently, Article 55 stipulates that the Managing Director (MD) of the company shall be nominated by the Government and appointed by the Board upon its approval. On the other hand, the proposed amendment suggests that the board will appoint the MD either through an open selection process or government nomination.

Officials further stated that prior to approving this amendment at the special general meeting, the opinions of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, and the Planning Commission should be sought.
