This budget is to prevent high profile looters: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the budget for fiscal year 2024-25 has been prepared to stop the high profile looters.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has saved the country from the looting reign that was created during the BNP government’s tenure which led the country to destruction. No one can get through here by looting. BNP does not have the courage to discipline its own people,” he said while addressing a party meeting at Awami League’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office on Sunday (June 9).

Along with the central leaders of Awami League, the meeting was also attended by presidents and general secretaries of Dhaka Metropolitan North-South District Awami League and its affiliated organisations.

Quader said, "Saifur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia also made black money white. Are they also criminals? Looters were not prosecuted during BNP's tenure. No one can get away with corruption during the Awami Leagu’s tenure, no matter who he is."

The minister said, “We must hold peaceful rallies to protect people's lives against the culture of fire and terror that BNP has introduced. It must be resisted. We have to be ready on the streets.”
