No more Eid for the people of Gaza
The completion of six months since the conflict between Israel and Gaza was marked on last April 7. However, referring to it solely as an Israel-Hamas war would be inaccurate. In addition to Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also played a significant role in the conflict. Furthermore, it's essential to recognise that the casualties were not limited to Hamas alone; tragically, 33,000 Palestinians lost their lives. Thus, it's more accurate to describe the conflict as the Israel-Gaza war. The West Bank, another part of the Palestinian territory, is under heavy Israeli monitoring and is governed by Mahmoud Abbas, a relatively moderate and well-connected leader. Abbas, supported by the international community, particularly the West, primarily through the Palestinian Authority, advocates for a peaceful resolution.

The local time displayed on the clock was 8:15 in the evening when some attendees were still arriving.
Post-election situation in Pakistan
Although national and provincial elections were held in Pakistan on the 8th, political stability has not been achieved. It is uncertain when and to what extent it will come. Perhaps a government will be formed very soon. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), led by Nawaz Sharif, and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), led by Bilawal Bhutto, have agreed to the formation of a coalition government after repeated discussions. However, how that will happen is still unclear. According to reports, Nawaz Sharif himself may become the Prime Minister.
How significant is the parliament in the majority of ruling party?
Parliamentary democracy, a system of governance cherished for its representation and accountability, often undergoes a unique journey in developing countries. From Africa to Asia, Latin America to parts of Eastern Europe, the path to democratic stability and functionality is marked by both hurdles and milestones. Bangladesh is no exception.
EU interested in strengthening partnership with Bangladesh
The European Union (EU) expressed interest in strengthening partnership with Bangladesh in the coming days.
Who will be the opposition party?
The Twelfth National Parliament is set to convene on the upcoming January 30th. The government has been formed, and positions such as Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament, Cabinet, and Deputy Speaker have been determined in a similar manner. On January 30th, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be officially elected. However, the Awami League has already endorsed Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury as the current Speaker and Shamsul Haque Tuku as the Deputy Speaker. There is no opposition on this matter, and there is no possibility of any other candidate. However, a decision on who will be the opposition party has not been made yet. The issue has become complicated due to the complexity of the January 7th election in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) did not participate in the election. Instead, Jatiya party has emerged. Their performance did not meet expectations. In a democratic system, the norm is that multiple political parties will participate in the elections.
