Israeli writers call for an end to Gaza war
Although a temporary ceasefire was established between Hamas and Israel in the third week of January this year, it collapsed by March. The Israeli military continues to carry out what many are calling acts of genocide in Gaza. This brutal war has triggered global outrage, with mass protests erupting in the United States, Morocco, Turkey, Bangladesh, and numerous other countries. Now, joining the chorus of dissent are Israeli writers, poets, and journalists themselves. In a powerful act of resistance, at least 350 Israeli literary figures have signed a letter urging their leaders to end the war.
What kind of protest is looting?
There is no doubt that the occupying Israel is carrying out the greatest massacre of the century in Gaza. A completely planned genocide. The Israeli aggression is no longer limited to occupation; it is a well-planned blueprint to completely annihilate the Palestinians. Gaza is now a huge mass grave. One after another family is buried under the rubble.
Shadow of darkness behind America's democracy in Trump era
Trump came to power in 2016 primarily by taking control of America’s information landscape. His journey in politics has been marked by controversy, with his actions always seeming to run parallel to the divisive nature of his rhetoric. From hate speech to crude attacks on opposing politicians, he has consistently used derogatory language. On January 6, 2021, thousands of Trump supporters stormed the senate office at Capitol Hill. Instead of regret, Trump later remarked during a campaign rally that he should not have left the House on that day, despite losing the 2020 presidential election. Now, this very Trump is back in the American throne. Ironically, it is the citizens of the nation that often claims to uphold the most democracy in the world who have brought him back to power, dressed as a king.
Israeli destruction turns Northern Gaza into a ‘Ghost Region’
Since early October 2023, the Israeli military's devastating assault on northern Gaza has claimed the lives of 5,000 people, injured 9,050 others, and displaced thousands more. Those who still survive describe the area as a "ghost region." Hospitals, schools, refugee camps, mosques, churches, and countless buildings have been damaged or destroyed in the relentless attacks.
Biden warns he would stop supplying artillery shells to Israel if it attacks Rafah
US President Joe Biden publicly warned Israel Wednesday he would stop supplying artillery shells and other weapons if it attacks Rafah in southern Gaza, as he deplored the fact that civilians had been killed by the dropping of US bombs.
Is Israel heading towards becoming a rogue state with unchecked support from the US?
The recent violence between Palestinians and Israelis is not solely the responsibility of the Hamas and Netanyahu governments; the stains of blood also lie on the hands of the Western powers. However, it is true that Palestinian militants initiated an attack on Israeli settlements near Gaza on October 7th. Yet, this attack did not originate from any specific location, nor were there prior warnings. Israel claims they did not provoke any aggression. However, the credibility of that claim is debatable. Western governments are well aware of the true plight of the Palestinians in Gaza. However, they have been tacitly supporting Israel's attacks against Palestinians for decades.
Beijing to host Hamas, Fatah for Palestinian unity talks
China will host Palestinian unity talks between Islamist militant group Hamas and its rivals Fatah, the two groups and a Beijing-based diplomat said on Friday, a notable Chinese foray into Palestinian diplomacy amid the war in the Gaza Strip.
Security Council to vote Thursday on UN membership of Palestinian state
The United Nations Security Council will vote Thursday on the Palestinians' application to become a full UN member state.
No more Eid for the people of Gaza
The completion of six months since the conflict between Israel and Gaza was marked on last April 7. However, referring to it solely as an Israel-Hamas war would be inaccurate. In addition to Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) also played a significant role in the conflict. Furthermore, it's essential to recognise that the casualties were not limited to Hamas alone; tragically, 33,000 Palestinians lost their lives. Thus, it's more accurate to describe the conflict as the Israel-Gaza war. The West Bank, another part of the Palestinian territory, is under heavy Israeli monitoring and is governed by Mahmoud Abbas, a relatively moderate and well-connected leader. Abbas, supported by the international community, particularly the West, primarily through the Palestinian Authority, advocates for a peaceful resolution.
Palestinian death toll in Gaza rises to 33,091
The Health Ministry in Gaza announced on Friday that the death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 33,091.
