He said that the power department team will work to monitor the issue. If the instructions are not followed, the power connection in that area will be disconnected, he said.
He told reporters at a press briefing on Monday (February 17).
The energy adviser said that the electricity demand in winter is 9 thousand megawatts. In summer, the electricity demand increases to 17-18 thousand megawatts. One of the reasons for the increase in demand is the use of irrigation and AC or cooling load. Since irrigation is related to food production, we will give top priority to irrigation. But if the use of AC is moderate, several thousand megawatts of electricity will be saved.
He said that the government has taken initiatives to reduce the cooling load. The religious advisor has been requested to instruct every mosque to use AC at 25 degrees during Tarawih. He said that work will also be done to implement this instruction in government and private offices, including the secretariat.
He said that a team from the power department will work to monitor whether this instruction to use AC is being implemented properly. If there is a deviation anywhere, load shedding will be done there, and even power may be cut off in some cases. Cities or villages will not be considered there. Load shedding will be done by announcement.
Stating that the interim government has found a fragile economic situation after coming to power, the power advisor said that the government is having to hurry to pay the price of electricity and fuel for which a huge amount of money has been laundered. Even in such a situation, he said that the government has taken all the arrangements to keep the power supply normal during the upcoming Ramadan.
