Errors found in HSC Biology question paper after Chemistry

Following complaints of errors in the Chemistry paper, allegations of inconsistencies have now surfaced in the English version of the Biology second paper in the 2026 HSC examinations under the common question system. Candidates taking the English version have claimed that translation errors and incompleteness in three multiple-choice questions led to confusion .

The Biology second paper examination was held on Wednesday (July 29) under nine general education boards. After the exam, various students alleged discrepancies between the English and Bangla versions in questions 15, 18 and 25 of the 'C' set .

Tahmid Tajwar, an examinee from Notre Dame College, said there was a breakdown in translation from Bangla to English. He stated that some questions were incomplete, causing confusion in the examination hall, and demanded full marks for those three questions.

According to students' complaints, in question 18, the word 'Myopia' was missing. In question 25, the question became incomplete as the term 'spermatid' was not mentioned. Question 15 also contained a difference in meaning between the Bangla and English versions.

Regarding the matter, Dhaka Education Board Secretary Professor Kamal Uddin Haider said complaints have been received about errors in some multiple-choice questions in the English version. Discussions are underway with subject experts to investigate the issue.

Inter-Education Board Examination Control Committee convener and Dhaka Board's Examination Controller Professor Jesmin Taslima Banu said six subject experts are reviewing the questions. If errors are confirmed in their report, necessary decisions will be taken to ensure examinees are not disadvantaged in any way.

Earlier, on July 19, discrepancies were also reported in a creative question in the English version of the Chemistry first paper. At that time, the education board had assured that the matter would be reviewed.
