Evaly Rasel, Shamima arrested again by DB

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has re-arrested Evaly e-commerce platform chairman Shamima Nasrin and CEO Mohammad Russel.

On Tuesday, January 20, around midnight, a DB team detained them from the Dhanmondi area. Dhanmondi police station officer-in-charge Saiful Islam confirmed the arrests.

DB sources said more than 200 arrest warrants have been issued against Shamima and Russel in cases filed at Dhanmondi, Kafrul, and Savar police stations, including over a hundred warrants from Dhanmondi station alone.

Previously, they were arrested on September 16, 2021, from Mohammadpur, Dhaka, on charges of fraud and embezzlement. Shamima was granted bail in April 2022 and Russel in December the same year.
