Ex-DIG Abdul Jalil Mondal arrested in Dhaka
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Jalil Mondal.
He was taken into custody on Monday (March 30) evening from the Sabujbagh area of Dhaka.
DB Joint Commissioner Mohammad Nasirul Islam confirmed that Mondal was arrested under an outstanding warrant in a case filed with the International Crimes Tribunal.
Authorities are also reviewing whether he faces any other pending cases.
Abdul Jalil Mondal, a native of Pabna, has held several key positions in the police, including Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police during the Hefazat-e-Islam movement centered at Shapla Chattar, and Additional Director General (Administration) of the Rapid Action Battalion.
He is currently in DB custody.
