Ex-DIG Nazmul Alam barred from leaving country

Court has imposed a travel ban on retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Sheikh Nazmul Alam over allegations of acquiring illegal wealth.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Fayez issued the order on Tuesday, February 24, following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Riaz Hossain, bench assistant of the concerned court, confirmed the information.

On the day, ACC Assistant Director Monir Mia filed the application seeking a travel ban on Nazmul Alam in connection with the allegations.

The application stated that a significant investigation is ongoing with the Anti-Corruption Commission regarding various corruption allegations against him, including illegal wealth acquisition. Reliable sources indicate he is attempting to leave the country. It is necessary to impose a travel ban in the interest of proper investigation.
