Former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been produced at the International Crimes Tribunal on Thursday (Nov 13) as a state witness in the war crimes case related to the July–August 2024 uprising.

He was brought from prison in a high-security van after 9.00am.

The three-member ICT-1 bench, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder and joined by Justices Md Shofiul Alam Mahmood and Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury, is scheduled to set the verdict date for the case.

Having testified as a state witness, Mamun’s fate has been left to the tribunal, while the prosecution has demanded the maximum penalty for Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who are in absconding.

The trial concluded closing arguments on October 23, after 28 hearings and testimonies from 54 witnesses. Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman sought the maximum sentence for Hasina and Kamal, with Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam and State Defence Counsel Amir Hossain presenting counter-arguments.
