Expat welfare ministry control room to remain open during Eid holidays
The control room of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment will remain operational during the Eid holidays to ensure the overall welfare of expatriates amid the ongoing war situation in the Middle East. The control room will function 24/7 until March 24.
This information was provided in an office order dated March 16, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Rozlin Shahid Chowdhury of the ministry.
According to the order, a total of 20 officers and 24 employees will perform duties in three shifts at the control room. The control room has been established at the Expatriate Call Centre located on Lift-7 of the Expatriate Welfare Building in Eskaton, Dhaka.
The hotline numbers for expatriates are (toll-free) 16135 from within the country and +8809610102030 from abroad.
The overall management of the control room will be overseen by Barrister Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Director General of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board. Md Hedayetul Islam Mandal, Deputy Secretary of the Employment-1 Branch of the ministry, will serve as the focal point officer.
The office order further stated that the officers on duty will maintain regular contact with the labour welfare wings abroad considering the situation in the Middle East, collect necessary information and submit it to the focal point officer.
It is noteworthy that this control room was activated on March 10 to assist expatriates in light of the emerging situation in the Middle East.
