Expatriate doctor stabbed to death by robbers in Dhanmondi
An expatriate doctor named AKM Abdur Rashid (85) was stabbed to death by robbers in the capital's Dhanmondi. His wife was injured in the incident.
The incident took place on the second floor of the fifth floor of a house at 294/1 8/1 in Dhanmondi on Thursday night (November 14).
AKM Abdur Rashid and his wife Sufia Rashid are both expatriate doctors living in the UK. They come to Dhaka every year in September and leave in December.
Saidur Rahman Badhan, a tenant, who brought the couple to the hospital, said, "Armed robbers broke into the house and took the couple hostage. The misilants then attacked them when they resisted, resulting in serious injuries to both."
"Abdur Rashid Abdur Rashid was declared dead by the on-duty doctor after being rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 4:00am," he added.
Md Faruk, in-charge (Inspector) at DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the matter.
He said, "The doctor's body has been stored in the morgue. The matter as been reported to the relevant police station for further action."
