Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that expatriates will now have the opportunity to cast their votes with the help of modern technology.

He said: "No matter where they are in the world, the expatriates will be able to vote with the help of modern technology. This will be marked as a historic milestone in the country's democratic journey.''

The CEC said this in a video message on the EC's official YouTube channel on Tuesday (September 30) night.

Nasir Uddin said: "For this purpose, we will soon launch a mobile app called 'Postal Vote BD'. You will have to download this app on your mobile phone. After downloading, there will be an instructional video there where you will get instructions at each step. You will be able to know what to do."

"During registration in the 'Postal Vote BD' app, you will need your passport details and you will have to provide your address in the country. Through this app, you will have to do face identification and liveness detection. After completing this task, once your registration is complete, our ballot paper will reach your expatriate address and the envelope to send it back to us will also reach your expatriate address," he added.

The CEC further said: "After voting, you will just post the envelope to the post office. It will reach the address given by us at the appropriate place. If you are a Bangladeshi and an expatriate and are interested in voting, then you must take the opportunity to register. We hope that all our expatriate brothers and sisters will take advantage of this opportunity."

The detailed information regarding voting will be available on the Postal BD app and instructional videos will be available at embassies or consulates. Detained information can be obtain through government media.
