Experts from 4 nations to join in Dhaka airport fire probe

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that experts from the UK, Australia, China, and Turkey will join the investigation into the recent fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s cargo village.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the affected area on Saturday (October 25), the adviser said the foreign experts will help determine the cause and assess any possible mismanagement behind the incident.

He noted that the Fire Service acted promptly, reaching the site within minutes, and that the fire spread rapidly due to the presence of food items, not chemicals.

Jahangir Alam also mentioned plans to expedite the activation of electronic gates at the airport and promised steps to ease passport-related issues for migrant workers.

Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq and other officials were present during the visit.
