Ex-RAB DG and his wife's 10 bank accounts frozen

Former RAB Director General Md. Harun-Ar-Rashid and his wife Fateha Farveen Luna have had their 10 bank accounts frozen by a court order. These accounts contain a total of Tk 73 lakh 50 thousand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz issued this order following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (DUDOK) on Tuesday (February 24).

Bench Assistant of the concerned court Riaz Hossain confirmed the matter.

DUDOK Deputy Assistant Director Imran Akon applied for the bank account to be frozen.

The application states that allegations of illegal acquisition and laundering of Tk 1,000 crore against Harun-Ar-Rashid are under investigation. The investigation has found huge movable assets in his and his wife's names, but the source of these assets is not satisfactory.

There is a risk of loss to the state as they are trying to transfer or transfer the assets elsewhere. Therefore, the court has ordered that their bank accounts be blocked.
