Former Secretary Abu Alam Shahid Khan was detained on Monday from Eskaton area of the capital by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Confirming the arrest, Deputy Commissioner of the DB, Mohammad Nasirul Islam, said that Khan was apprehended from a building in Eskaton. Khan has been detained in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Shahbagh Police Station. He is scheduled to be presented before the court later today, Nasirul Islam added. In a statement, the Detective Branch confirmed the arrest, citing allegations of conspiracy linked to the organisation Moncho-71 in Dhaka. Additionally, five individuals involved in a spontaneous procession in the city were also taken into custody by law enforcement authorities.

আওয়ামী লীগ আমলে স্থানীয় সরকার বিভাগের জ্যেষ্ঠ সচিব হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করা সাবেক সচিব আবু আলম শহীদ খানকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে ঢাকা মহানগর গোয়েন্দা পুলিশ (ডিবি)। সোমবার (৮ সেপ্টেম্বর)&nbsp;রাজধানীর ইস্কাটন এলাকা থেকে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। এ বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে ডিবির যুগ্ম কমিশনার মোহাম্মদ নাসিরুল ইসলাম বলেন, শাহবাগ থানায় সন্ত্রাসবিরোধী আইনে করা মামলায় সাবেক সচিব আবু আলম মোহাম্মদ শহীদ খানকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। আজই তাকে আদালতে সোপর্দ করা হবে। গোয়েন্দা শাখা এক বিবৃতিতে জানায়, ঢাকায় 'মঞ্চ-৭১' নামের একটি সংগঠনের সঙ্গে ষড়যন্ত্রের অভিযোগে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে।&nbsp;এ ছাড়াও শহরের একটি ঝটিকা মিছিল থেকে আরও পাঁচজনকে পুলিশি হেফাজতে নিয়েছে আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনী।
