Ex-State Minister, MP Nazrul Islam Chowdhury passes away

Former State Minister for Labour and Employment, former lawmaker from Chattogram-14 (Chandanaish-Satkania partial) and freedom fighter Alhaj Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury has passed away.

He breathed his last at 4:15am on Monday (July 13) while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka.

Nazrul Islam Chowdhury had been battling cancer for a prolonged period and was receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital. Following a deterioration in his condition, he was placed on life support several days ago, where he later died.

His nephew, Nahian Chowdhury, confirmed the former minister's death.

According to family members, the first funeral prayer (janaza) will be held at 10:00pm on Monday in front of his residence at Beverly Hill Society in Chattogram city. A second janaza is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday at the Kanchanabad High School ground in Chandanaish Upazila, after which he will be laid to rest.

Nazrul Islam Chowdhury is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters, grandchildren, and numerous relatives, well-wishers and admirers.
