Fakir Mahbub Anam gets Posts, telecommunicationa and information ministry
Fakir Mahbub Anam has been appointed as the Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister. He also got the portfolio of Science and Technology Minister.
He took oath as a minister on Tuesday (February 17) afternoon as BNP announced the 49-member cabinet with 25 full ministers and 24 state ministers.
He has clinched victory in the unofficial result of the Tangail-1 constituency in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections.
He secured 153,932 votes while his nearest rival Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Muhammad Abdullahil Kafi received 94,462 votes.
He is a dedicated leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and a strong pillar of grassroots politics in Tangail district. He is currently serving as a member of the Central Executive Committee of BNP.
His role was prominent in the establishment of Dhanbari Upazila. He is known as a long-time organizer of Tangail District BNP.
He comes from a traditional political family. His father, Alhaj Afaz Uddin Fakir, was a very prominent and respected figure of Nikrail Union in Tangail District.
Afaz Uddin was elected as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan twice in 1965 and 1966 during the Pakistan period.
After the independence of Bangladesh, he was elected as a member of the National Parliament in 1979.
This family has a special social contribution in Tangail. In recognition of their family's contribution, Lokman Fakir Women's Degree College has been established in Tangail, which is playing an important role in women's education in the area.
