Family preparing to take Khaleda to London: Mahadi Amin
The Zia family is preparing to take BNP chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia to London for specialised treatment if her condition shows slight improvement, Mahadi Amin, adviser to acting chairman Tarique Rahman, said on Saturday, November 29, on his verified Facebook page.
According to Mahadi Amin, Khaleda Zia is currently admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital, where a team of local and foreign specialist doctors is overseeing her care. Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman are in constant contact with the medical team in London and are providing necessary guidance.
He said that as an important member of the medical board, Dr Zubaida Rahman is coordinating with experts at home and abroad. To ensure there is no delay or complication in the treatment, Tarique Rahman is closely monitoring every step.
Mahadi Amin added that while many party leaders and activists visit the hospital daily to inquire about the leader’s condition, access to the ICU is being restricted to minimise infection risk; nonetheless, they show their support and concern from a distance.
He said that plans to transfer Khaleda Zia to London are nearly finalised if there is some improvement in her condition. Contacts have already been made with the London hospital and doctors where she had notable improvement after four months of treatment earlier this year. Arrangements are also underway for a state-of-the-art air ambulance.
Mahadi Amin expressed hope that with the prayers and affection of the nation, Khaleda Zia will recover soon and resume her leadership role after treatment.
