The government has appointed Farida Khanam as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka, making her the first woman to hold the position. The appointment was confirmed in a notification issued on Wednesday (April 22) by the Ministry of Public Administration, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Md Ismail Hossain. According to the notification, the order has been issued in the public interest and will take immediate effect. Farida Khanam, currently serving as a Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Public Security Division, will assume charge as the administrative and judicial head (District Magistrate) of Dhaka district. Meanwhile, incumbent Dhaka DC Md Rezaul Karim has been withdrawn from his post and reassigned as a Deputy Secretary at the Cabinet Division.

ঢাকা জেলার নতুন প্রশাসক (ডিসি) এবং প্রশাসনিক ও বিচার বিভাগীয় প্রধান (জেলা ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট) হিসেবে নিয়োগ পেয়েছেন স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের ফরিদা খানম। বুধবার (২২ এপ্রিল) জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়ের এক প্রজ্ঞাপনের মাধ্যমে তাকে এই পদে নিয়োগ দেওয়া হয়। মন্ত্রণালয়ের জ্যেষ্ঠ সহকারী সচিব মো. ইসমাইল হোসেন স্বাক্ষরিত প্রজ্ঞাপনে বলা হয়েছে, জনস্বার্থে জারিকৃত এই আদেশ অবিলম্বে কার্যকর হবে। এদিকে, ঢাকার বর্তমান ডিসি মো. রেজাউল করিমকে তার পদ থেকে সরিয়ে মন্ত্রিপরিষদ বিভাগের উপসচিব হিসেবে বদলি করা হয়েছে।
