Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized that overall national development is not possible unless farmers are ensured prosperity and well-being on Tuesday (March 17).

Speaking at a review meeting on the 'Krishak Card' initiative held at the Secretariat, the Prime Minister said agriculture remains the driving force of Bangladesh’s economy. “If farmers do not smile, the country cannot achieve comprehensive development,” he stated.

He explained that the primary objective of introducing the 'Krishak Card' is to ensure that genuine farmers can directly access fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and government financial assistance without harassment from middlemen.

Despite the public holiday on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, the Prime Minister attended office and joined the meeting at around 11:00am to review the latest progress of the committee formed for the program’s implementation.

Later in the day, administrators of Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation met with the Prime Minister at the Secretariat.

Following the meeting, DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam said the Prime Minister is highly attentive to the development of Dhaka city and regularly monitors ongoing and pending works. He added that directives have been given to both city corporations to transform Dhaka into a cleaner and more livable metropolis.
