Favoring or sidelining individuals based on political considerations harms the country: Rizvi
The Political Advisor to the Prime Minister and Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has remarked that depriving qualified individuals of promotions based on political considerations is an assault on humanity. He stated that over the past 17 years, numerous meritorious officials and physicians were denied promotions solely due to their political identities, which has caused a major loss for the country.
He said these things at a program organized by the Bangladesh Cardiac Society at a hotel in the capital on Saturday (July 18).
Rizvi said that putting someone ahead and leaving someone behind due to political considerations means harming the people of the country and an insult to humanity. Many talented people have been deprived of jobs or promotions due to being associated with different political ideologies during their student life and have been forced to perform duties in remote areas for years.
He said that if a doctor is skilled, research-rich and dedicated to patients, then not giving him a promotion due to political reasons is in no way acceptable. This wastes talent and the country loses potential manpower.
Rizvi claimed that in the last 17 years, many qualified doctors were stuck in the post of medical officer despite having the necessary publications and qualifications. If it were not for the political changes of August 5, they would never have got the opportunity to become assistant professors or professors.
He also said that due to political discrimination, many talented people have gone abroad, some have left the country permanently, while others have been deprived for life. As a result, the nation has been deprived of the full benefits of their knowledge and skills.
Praising the current government, Rizvi said that the budget has been increased in the health and education sectors and initiatives have been taken to reduce the cost of treatment for cancer, kidney, thalassemia and heart disease. He commented that this is a positive example of a government that is accountable to the people.
