All posts at all levels, including the party primary membership post, of BNP Chairperson's adviser Fazlur Rahman have been suspended for three months for allegedly making 'offensive and misleading' statements on the July mass uprising.

A BNP source confirmed to the media that the party's decision was communicated to Fazlur Rahman through a letter on Tuesday (August 26).

The letter said: "A show cause notice was issued in your name in the memorandum dated August 24, 2025 (Source No.-BNP/General/77/147/2025). You applied for an extension of time without giving a written response to the show cause notice. In view of your application, the time for providing a written response to the show cause notice in the memorandum dated yesterday (August 25) (Source No.-BNP/General/77/148/2025) was again extended by 24 hours. The response you gave to the show cause notice today (August 26) is not satisfactory."

"However, considering your contribution to the Liberation War as a heroic freedom fighter, without taking strict organizational measures, your party primary membership and all levels of posts have been suspended for three months by order," it added.

The letter further said: "From now on, when you speak on talk shows or social media, you will always be careful not to harm the country's dignity and party policies and not to hurt the religious sentiments of the people of the country."
