Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route suspended due to bad weather
Ferry operations on the Daulatdia-Paturia route have been temporarily suspended as rough weather has made the Padma River turbulent, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities announced on Saturday, June 6.
The suspension began around 2:30 pm after the river became hazardous due to strong winds, rainfall and increased waves, prompting the authorities to halt services in the interest of safety.
BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Assistant General Manager Mohammad Salahuddin confirmed the suspension.
According to BIWTC sources, the sky over the Daulatdia Ghat area suddenly became overcast after 2:00 pm. Around 2:30 pm, heavy rain accompanied by strong gusty winds began, making navigation risky. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles.
Salahuddin said ferry services have been suspended due to sudden strong winds on the river. Operations will resume once weather conditions improve.
