Field-level political activists to get priority in reserved seats: Chief Whip

In the nomination for the reserved women's seats of the National Parliament, only women leaders who have been tested and sacrificed for a long time will be given priority, said Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam.

He said this while responding to various questions from journalists at the National Parliament House on Wednesday (April 8).

The Chief Whip said that only those leaders who have been active in politics for a long time, have played a role in the movement and struggle, and can contribute effectively to the Parliament will be given priority in the nomination.

He also said that the Parliament Leader will take the right and representative decision by considering all aspects.

He said, we believe that the sooner women come to Parliament, the better it will be for the country. Various initiatives have been taken for the empowerment of women.

Chief Whip also mentioned various programs aimed at increasing women's participation in Parliament. He said that the effectiveness of Parliament will increase further by evaluating qualified and experienced women.

In response to a question regarding the anti-terrorism law and justice, Nurul Islam said, the government's goal is to establish the rule of law in the country. Those who have committed crimes will be tried, and those who are innocent will be released. We do not do politics of revenge.

He also said that the decisions or activities of the past are also being reviewed according to the law and will be disposed of through appropriate processes.

Regarding the passage of ordinances, the Chief Whip said that a total of 133 ordinances issued during the interim government are being tabled and passed in parliament as soon as possible. Already, 44 ordinances have been passed in the form of bills.

He said that the session is being held on Fridays as needed to speed up the work of the parliament. The members of parliament are working tirelessly to properly fulfill the responsibilities given to them by the people.

Earlier, regarding the parliamentary party meeting, he said, this is a regular process, where the tasks and future work plans of the members of parliament are discussed in detail.
