Final appointment of another 184 doctors in 48th BCS

The government has given final appointment to another 184 doctors from the 48th BCS (Special) organised to end the shortage of doctors in the country. The new recruitment branch of the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday (August 25).

This supplementary gazette has been published after completion of health examination and police verification on the basis of the recommendation of the Public Service Commission (PSC). Among the appointed doctors there are 19 assistant dental surgeons and 165 assistant surgeons.

They have been appointed in the pay scale of 22 thousand to 53 thousand 60 taka according to the National Pay Scale 2015.

The notification said that the newly appointed doctors will have to join the office designated by the Health Services Division by September 7, 2026. If they do not join within the stipulated time the appointment of the concerned candidate will be considered cancelled.

After joining the service the doctors will have to work as apprentices for two years. During this period they will also have to complete the basic and professional training. If they leave the service within three years after the end of the apprenticeship period they will have to refund the full cost of the training. For this a bond will have to be submitted on a 300 taka stamp at the time of joining.

Besides, a statement of property account and an undertaking of not taking dowry will also have to be submitted at the time of joining.

In the background of the 48th BCS, a notification for the 48th BCS (Special) examination was issued in 2025 with the target of appointing 3 thousand doctors to improve the quality of government health services across the country. After the examination and oral interview the PSC recommended the required number of candidates for appointment.

On the basis of this the Ministry of Public Administration published the first gazette on January 22, 2026. In that gazette final appointment was given to 3 thousand 263 doctors. They formally joined the service on 1 February.
