Final list of local election centres to be published on August 27

The Election Commission has begun the process of determining polling centres for the upcoming local government elections. As part of this process, the final list of polling centres will be published in the gazette on August 27.

A notification to this effect was issued in a letter signed by Election Commission Senior Assistant Secretary Md Rashid Mia on Wednesday, July 15.

According to the 'Local Government Institution Election Polling Centre Establishment and Management Policy-2025', the list of polling centres must be finalised and gazetted at least 25 days before polling day.

The draft list will be published on August 10, and claims and objections will be accepted until August 18. The commission will review and settle applications by August 23 before publishing the final list on August 27.

The Commission directed election officials to maximise the use of existing infrastructure and avoid proposing temporary polling booths where permanent buildings can be used.

The Commission also instructed that hard and soft copies of the final list be submitted to the Election Support-3 Branch through the concerned Regional Election Officer within seven days of the schedule announcement.
