FIR withdrawn from police station over assault case on Rahid

Rahid Khan Pavel's mother has withdrawn the FIR she filed at Shahbagh Police Station. The matter was confirmed by the Shahbagh Police Inspector (Operations) and the victim’s mother, Parveen Akter, on Tuesday night.

The FIR was originally filed on Monday night and named 10 DU students, along with 10–15 unknown individuals, as accused. However, the family did not disclose the reasons or circumstances behind the withdrawal of the complaint within 24 hours.

Pavel, a student of the Philosophy Department from the 2020–21 academic session and a resident of Bir Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, was allegedly beaten and left in front of Shahbagh Police Station early yesterday after being labelled a member of the now-banned Bangladesh Chhatra League.

Rahid claimed that leaders of anti-discrimination student movements and members of the Jatiyo Chhatra Shakti were directly involved in the assault.
