Fire alarm temporarily halts NCC dialogue
The National Consensus Commission meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon was abruptly halted following a sudden fire alarm that caused panic among attendees.
The incident occurred at 12:20 PM in the Doel Hall of the Foreign Service Academy. As the meeting was underway, the fire alarm sounded, prompting politicians and officials to evacuate the hall hurriedly.
Co-chairman of the commission, Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, urged everyone to leave calmly and assured that an investigation was ongoing. Participants quickly moved downstairs to a safe area.
Preliminary reports suggest that a cigarette or some burning material may have been discarded inside the building, triggering the alarm. Authorities are currently investigating the cause.
No injuries have been reported.
