Fire breaks out at petrol pump in Mohakhali

A fire broke out at a petrol pump near the Mohakhali rail gate in the capital on Sunday evening, causing panic in the area. Witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions from the site.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the fire started around 7:00 PM. Three firefighting units from the Tejgaon station have been dispatched to the scene to bring the blaze under control.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Eyewitnesses said that staff at the petrol pump initially attempted to douse the flames, but the fire spread rapidly, prompting calls for emergency assistance.

As a result of the incident, vehicular movement has been suspended on the road in front of the pump. One side of the Mohakhali flyover has also been closed to traffic to ensure safety and facilitate emergency response operations.
